Overall, a pretty snazzy recognition, particularly given the fact that the show only in its first season.  Sort of like giving Obama the Nobel Peace Prize in his very first term.

• Entertainment news show On the Red Carpet has this interview with her during a recent screening of Glee in our hometown of Los Angeles.  She also reveals a little something something about the season finale: “In the last episode, there’s a very, very interesting panel of judges, judging Regional’s.  A couple of celebrities, and a couple of local celebrities.”  Sounds great, but honestly, very few things could beat the panel of judges during Sectionals.

• Now, if this doesn’t brighten up your Monday morning, we don’t know what will: the newly engaged Jane Lynch and Laura Embry were in San Francisco over the weekend to attend the National Center for Lesbian Rights’ 33rd anniversary dinner and gala.  For those just dying to know how the two met – because there indeed are some of you – the two apparently met at last year’s gala.  Aw, this is a million times better than meeting someone at a bar: you know you have something more in common than your choice of gay bars.  More details (OMG this is quickly turning into a tabloid rag – sorry): They were given a surprise cake by the awesome (and frequent Food Network contestant) Elizabeth Falkner over at Citizen Cake (go to there the next time you’re in SF — she really does bake up some fantastic treats).  Pictures from the event are here on Lez Get Real (one of the best website names ever); the woman with the spiky hair is the chef herself.

• In more news to print under the “Aw” category, Carol Burnett (!!) professed her admiration of Jane Lynch during the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books last weekend.  The moderator of the panel, Mary McNamara – who wrote this lovely, lovely tribute to Jane Lynch last year in the Los Angeles Times – suggested that Carol Burnett play Sue Sylvester’s mom.  YES, please.

• Not strictly Jane Lynch-related, but Billboard has an interesting article about the Glee phenomonen, and the upcoming music tour in particular.  Jane’s not in the article too much, but the business side of the show, from its off-season publicity and marketing to details behind the all-Madonna episode (hint: Madonna first said no) are all discussed.  There also are a lot of spoilers, so don’t say we didn’t warn ye.  The article is here.

In our humble opinion, if you’re somewhat famous, there are three signs that you’ve not only Made It, but you’re a cultural touchstone: 1) you’ve hosted or played SNL; 2) you’ve sung an educational song or two with a Muppet or two on Sesame Street; and 3) Oprah made you cry. Heck, even Ms. Brockovich herself, Julia Roberts, hasn’t really made it by our standards. On the other hand, Tina Fey is three for three (uh, she was SNL for quite a while (here she is as Sarah Palin, followed by the actual Sarah Palin – it’s painfully funny to see how little scripting SNL had to do for that skit); here she is as a Bookaneer on Sesame Street (and the reverse – Muppets on 30 Rock!  That’s extra credit points right there); and there she was meeting Oprah on 30 Rock, which is close enough to actually being on the Oprah set of soft light and comfy couches.  Good job, Tina Fey.  You  made it.

Obviously, Jane Lynch should be part of the Tina Fey Club. Then, she should work her way up from Treasurer to President, then change the name of the club to the Jane Lynch Club. A little regime change never hurt anyone, hmmm Mr. Former President Bush, Jr.?

Regime change is hard from afar, but Jane’s tiptoeing closer: on April 7, she, along with the rest of the Glee cast, will be on Oprah. Yeah, that’s right, Oprah will devote her entire show to Glee. That’s one for three, Jane. Next up: SNL. We have a few evolving plans to organize a little drive (a la Betty White) to land her hosting duties on SNL. Muppets, we’ll be hitting up your street soon enough. Better hide your vowels.

Meh, we’re not in love with Erin Brockovich; really, having Tina Fey reprising her Mean Girls role on Glee would be infinitely more awesome.  Oh well, can’t win them all.

As you can see from the cones, Jane Lynch will be singing “Vogue” in the all-Madge episode.  We cannot be more excited for this.  There also will be a Beatles episode that, though it looks good, probably cannot beat the Powerpuff Girls’s “Meet the Beat-Alls” episode.  While the Powerpuff Girls have absolutely nothing to do with Jane Lynch (or do they??), we miss Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup so much that we’ve linked to the episode below.  The going gets great at 1:30.

Relatedly, Glee just won for Best Comedy Ensemble!  Exciting, but we’re still waiting …

Everyone oddly is acting like this is the first time that Jane Lynch has done any animated work, but you know as well as we do that she’s done this in varying forms, from videogames (Leisure Suit Larry … which we have not made time to play in between Call of Duty and Zelda, oh darn) to movies (Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs) to yep, playing an animated lesbian partner of an equally animated Leisha Hailey (!!!!) (American Dad!): “Holy ****, you’re a woman!”

What can match that? Very few things. Well, she can match and/or top that, this week, maybe. Jane Lynch will go back to cartoon form on this Sunday’s episode of Family Guy‘s spin-off show, The Cleveland Show. She doesn’t appear as a lezzie, we think, but she is apparently a monstrous teacher who looks like she sniffed that chalkboard cleanser a little too hard. Too bad she’s not a PE teacher. The show airs on Sunday at 9:30 on Fox.

“I identify very strongly, and this is going to be very telling, with Tina. Tina is played by Jenna Ushkowitz, and she’s the quiet, stuttering Asian girl. She’s quiet. She stands in the back, and when you hear her sing, you’re like, ‘Oh my gosh. Where did she come from? She has talent,’” Lynch says. “I was kind of that person. I was kind of in the background, and then, every once in awhile, I’d pop in and people would be like, ‘Where did you come from?’”

If you want a full-fledged spoiler for the article, here’s another one:  the songs she wants to sing on Glee are ”Anything You Can Do, I Can Do Better” or Queen’s “We Are the Champions.”  Personally, we’re still rooting for Madonna’s “This Used to Be My Playground.”

In another Best-Of list, TV Guide named Jane Lynch’s portrayal of Sue Sylvester as one of the “Best Performances of the Year.” They say what we’ve been saying all along: that her diabolical plotting “is the perfect antidote to the show’s occasionally over-the-top sweetness.”  Exactly.

In other news, Jane appeared on The Bonnie Hunt Show a week or two ago.  You may or may not (probably will not) recall that Bonnie Hunt’s show recently got the ax, which is so sad because Bonnie Hunt seems like a very nice lady.  Honestly, though, we think her skillz lie in acting, not so much hosting. In this short segment, Jane talks about how her mom left her in the middle of the red carpet premiere of Julie & Julia to run and fawn over to Meryl Streep:

Because Jane mentioned that her mother did this in the middle of an Access Hollywood interview with Amy Adams, we just had to track down the clip.  You are welcome!!  Now, if you go forward to about 23 seconds in and look to your far, far left: we’re pretty sure that’s our Jane putting a “I know, it’s effing MERYL STREEP!” hand on her mom’s shoulder.

And this one just came through our inbox this morning: it must have been a press junket on a field trip to the Glee set, as E! talks to Jane Lynch about her Golden Globe nomination. Best part is when Jane explains her philanthropy: “I’m a giver.” Worst part is when we are forced to visualize Sue Sylvester having “angry sex” with Will. Ew.
