Jane Lynch was on Jimmy Fallon the other night, and she talked about Happy Accidents, natch, as well as her childhood crush on Ron Howard. And who woulda thunk: Ronnie was the second guest of the night. He brought her flowers, like a good childhood crush (Gillian Anderson, take note for our future meeting), then confessed, “I don’t entirely understand the function I served in your life, but I’m glad if I did.” Like a good childhood crush. As you all will recall from Happy Accidents, Jane Lynch’s childhood crush was Ron Howard: “Not a well-known fact, but many young lesbians have gay boyfriends, or crushes so safe they might s well be gay. Happy Days was my favorite TV show, and Ron, who played all-American boy Richie Cunningham, was cute, boyish, and asexual – all Mayberry and apple pie.” Hee.

And now, Jimmy Fallon has fixed it so that both Jane and Ronnie Howard will be on his show tonight, a guaranteed heartwarming moment of shy confessions and lezbro bonding. Hee hee.

Jane was on Conan last night, talking about how those Jersey Shore kids couldn’t pronounce “liaison,” possibly because there are just too many damn vowels in the word, seeing herself in wax, and getting the most mileage out of the little bit of Spanish she learned in high school.

Not in 30 Rock, although that is a guest appearance we’re just dying to see happen, but at 10 Rockefeller Plaza yesterday for interviews with the Today show and The Last Word. Both interviews cover the Emmys and Happy Accidents; The Last Word also talks Michelle Bachman and Sue Sylvester, and how it’s crazy that the latter has a real-life twin in the former.

We like this one, especially that photo: the LA Times Magazine has an interview with Jane about Sue Sylvester (of course), hosting the Emmys, and being on the set of 40 Year Old Virgin. Excerpt:

That movie introduced you to a whole new audience.
Absolutely. Ensemble comedies were all fresh and new. We shot in that store over several weeks, and we all came in every day, even if we weren’t in any of the scenes that were designated to shoot that day, ’cause Judd [Apatow] might say, “Jane, get in there,” or, “Paul [Rudd], get in there.” It was like sitting on the bench in the basketball game, and you’d get called in.

So, a lot was improvised?
All of it. That’s why I say in the book that my agent didn’t want me to take it. It was a horrible script. It was really just kind of stupid and sophomoric. [Laughs.] The film wasn’t stupid and sophomoric—it was done in an artful way. But yeah, it’s all improvised.

Vogue has a lovely article on Jane, a sort of biography-slash-fast-forward-to-the-present-type piece that includes how she and Lara met and a few really great photos of the two as they’re coasting down a California highway in a classic car. Cary Grant, eat your heart out.

While the interview is sweet overall, it was a bit unfortunate that no one mentioned the irony of Jane Lynch in Vogue magazine. Is that reference too easy? Too dated? Too dumb? In our opinion, yes, no, and no, in that order.

Unrelatedly, The Hollywood Reporter has a photo gallery of a few behind-the-scenes moments of a good number of Emmy-nominated actors and actresses. Including Jane Lynch as Sue Sylvester, natch.

Jane was on Jimmy Kimmel last night. If there was a general theme, it was: don’t listen to anyone but Ron Howard. She also answered a question that a surprising number of you have emailed us about: yes, she only has one scene in Paul, but yes, you should see the movie even if you see that one clip. C’mon Simon Pegg and Nick Frost! If you still don’t believe us, check out their version of Star Wars. If you weren’t laughing at that, well, we don’t know what to say.

Last night, Jane was on Leno, and talked a lot about a lot of things. To wit: what she looked like Christmas Day, 1984 (that’s the picture on the right, believe it or not. Beer first thing on Christmas morning – not a good sign); she went on a (gay) cruise and hated it (not the people, just the confined space); Elton John wants to be on Glee (yes, we could see how that would make for a great episode); and that, contrary to all those nasty rumors out there, she did not have pot and a bong and a few joints at Elton John’s post-Oscar bash. It belonged to everyone else at the table. Really.

Happy pi day, everyone!

Jane is on the talk show circuit today and tomorrow promoting Tuesday’s Glee‘s episode (the kids sing their first original song – you can buy the album here on Amazon). She’ll be on Leno tonight (she’s the first guest; Avril Lavigne is the musical guest, for all you girls who love skinny ties), and on Jimmy Kimmel tomorrow (interestingly or oddly, Avril Lavigne also is slotted to show up as the musical guest).
Earlier this month, Jane was on the Canadian radio program Q. We like this one a lot because the interviewer obviously did his research on Jane and asked her very good questions.
Jane and Lara signed a letter to Obama “asking him for clarity on the topic of same-sex marriage and urging him to support an end to ‘exclusion from marriage’” – i.e., asking him to effing do something already.
Ha! Jane comes in second in AfterEllen’s list of the Top 50 Out Female Celebrity List. She was bested by Ellen DeGeneres who, let’s face it, will always be on the top of any one of these lists. As it should be.
