Read 'em and weep in happiness. We haven't been this excited for a celebrity since Gillian Anderson was nominated for her Emmy way back in 1997. To top things off, Jane Lynch will be on Jay Leno tonight. Today is a good day.

Remember way back when Gillian Anderson was finally nominated for an Emmy? That was very exciting for us. Very exciting. And now, just as exciting, is Jane Lynch’s nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for Glee and Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series (out of all the years and years of guesting on every television series since 1992, she finally gets some guest’ing recognition. Geesh.). Regarding the former category, she’s up against Jane Krakowski on 30 Rock; Kristen Wiig (for playing “various characters”) on SNL; Sofia Vergara on Modern Family (oh, she is so great) (not greater than Jane Lynch) (but still great!); Julie Bowen, who we remember from Ed but who currently is on Modern Family; and Holland Taylor on Two and a Half Men.

Glee garnered 19(!) nominations in total, including Outstanding Comedy Series and Outstanding Casting (Glee should win just for having the genius insight to hire Jane Lynch as Sue Sylvester).

Now we are having memories of Gillian Anderson actually winning that Emmy. Because she was so, so great as Dana Scully, and the Academy so rarely recognizes science fiction (see Battlestar Galactica, complete snubbery of). Hopefully the Academy will come of their shell a bit, eschew the traditional comedy series format, and reward another good thing staring plainly at their ballot sheet.

Also, hey, Jane Lynch is going to be on Jay Leno tonight, along with Steve Carell. She’s slated to be the “second guest,” but really, we’re just as excited for Steve Carell as well. Remember the two of them in 40 Year Old Virgin? Of course you do. Here’s to hoping that Jane serenades him all over again.

How Jane Lynch met Laura Embry, a few spoilers about the Glee season finale, Carol Burnett, and some behind-the-scenes negotiation to get the all-Madonna episode off the ground. Good morning to you too.

Good Monday morning! Just a few Jane Lynch items to entertain you as you drink your first of many cups of coffee and prepare for a hard day’s day.

One of our bestest fans, Marie, sent us the video of Jane accepting a TV Land “Future Classic” award on behalf of the Glee cast. tipped us off to a video of Jane accepting the TV Land “Future Classic” award on behalf of the Glee cast. As Jo points out below in the comments, WTF? The video was up when this first posted; since then, the site’s license to post the video expired. We’ve listened to Colin Powell enough to know that there always should be a Plan B. In this case, we have to go old skool. Plan B: Below is a photo of Jane accepting the award, courtesy iVillage.

Now, here is the audio of the speech, courtesy WRGH radio. That’s Chris Colfer you hear first. Just pretend the people in the photo are talking. There you go.

Overall, a pretty snazzy recognition, particularly given the fact that the show only in its first season. Sort of like giving Obama the Nobel Peace Prize in his very first term.

Entertainment news show On the Red Carpet has this interview with her during a recent screening of Glee in our hometown of Los Angeles. She also reveals a little something something about the season finale: “In the last episode, there’s a very, very interesting panel of judges, judging Regional’s. A couple of celebrities, and a couple of local celebrities.” Sounds great, but honestly, very few things could beat the panel of judges during Sectionals.

Now, if this doesn’t brighten up your Monday morning, we don’t know what will: the newly engaged Jane Lynch and Laura Embry were in San Francisco over the weekend to attend the National Center for Lesbian Rights’ 33rd anniversary dinner and gala. For those just dying to know how the two met – because there indeed are some of you – the two apparently met at last year’s gala. Aw, this is a million times better than meeting someone at a bar: you know you have something more in common than your choice of gay bars. More details (OMG this is quickly turning into a tabloid rag – sorry): They were given a surprise cake by the awesome (and frequent Food Network contestant) Elizabeth Falkner over at Citizen Cake (go to there the next time you’re in SF — she really does bake up some fantastic treats). Pictures from the event are here on Lez Get Real (one of the best website names ever); the woman with the spiky hair is the chef herself.

In more news to print under the “Aw” category, Carol Burnett (!!) professed her admiration of Jane Lynch during the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books last weekend. The moderator of the panel, Mary McNamara – who wrote this lovely, lovely tribute to Jane Lynch last year in the Los Angeles Times – suggested that Carol Burnett play Sue Sylvester’s mom. YES, please.

Not strictly Jane Lynch-related, but Billboard has an interesting article about the Glee phenomonen, and the upcoming music tour in particular. Jane’s not in the article too much, but the business side of the show, from its off-season publicity and marketing to details behind the all-Madonna episode (hint: Madonna first said no) are all discussed. There also are a lot of spoilers, so don’t say we didn’t warn ye. The article is here.

That’s it for now! Happy Monday, everyone!

Jane Lynch will receive OutFest's highest honor on July 8th. The awards keep rolling in, and it's about time.

I know, we’re a little late posting this bit of news, and everyone from a fan in Taiwan (Ni hao, Taiwan! Don’t let the mainlanders get you down!) to an ex-co-worker told us about this last week … but we moved across town, and moving from one end of LA to the other is like moving across state lines. Better late than never, though, right?

OutFest – which organizes an annual 10-day gay and lesbian film festival here in LA – will honor our Jane Lynch with its Annual Achievement Award this year during its opening festivities on July 8th. According to OutFest via The Hollywood Reporter, the award is the festival’s “highest honor and is presented in recognition of a body of work that has made a significant contribution to LGBT film and media.” Yeah! Gays feting gays!! There really is no better party.

Speaking of parties, OutFest is nothing but one great big one. From what we understand, they’re still readying their gay agenda for their gay movie lineup, so keep checking their gay site here for details. We don’t think there’s going to be a 25th anniversary tribute to Desert Hearts (but, dude, there totally needs to be one, somewhere), but there will be other lezzie-centric movies, so surely swing by if you’re local and/or visiting. We’ll see you there!

This was predictable but still awesome: our inbox lit up this morning with news that our Jane Lynch has been nominated in the Best Supporting Actress in a Series, Miniseries, or Movie category for her role as Sue Sylvester in Glee. Is anyone surprised? Hell, no. Will we be astonished if she doesn’t finally get her due? We didn’t say “riot,” but … yes, yes we did.

Her contenders, as if they matter, are Jane Adams in Hung; Rose Byrne in Damages; Janet McTeer in Into the Storm; and Chloe Sevigny in Big Love. We haven’t seen any of these other shows, but we know Jane handily beats ‘em all.

UPDATE: Entertainment Weekly has a great, quick interview with Jane on her reaction to the nomination. Aw.
