We would pay to see this if we could, and for those of you in or near Manatee County, you actually can pay to see this: 2,000 golf balls will be dropped from a helicopter as part of the Palmetto High School Crew 1st Annual Chopper Dropper Fundraiser, hosted and wholly supported by Lara Embry and Jane Lynch.
A few months ago, the couple donated $15,000 in money and equipment to help seed the Palmetto High School Rowing Club in Manatee County, Florida. On Saturday, May 14, Jane will host the Chopper Dropper fundraiser to help the team buy some much-needed equipment (boats, oars, rowing machines). A mere tax-deductible $50 gets your numbered ticket; during the Chopper Dropper, a helicopter will hover over the Rive Isle Golf and Nautical Estates and drop those 2,000 golf balls. If your ball lands closest to the pin, you win $25,000, which, we must point out, is more than you would get if you made it to the final round of Family Feud. The ball landing second-closest to the pin wins $5,000, then $1,000 each for the next four closest. Not a bad ROI, eh?
And, because we really are all winners here, everyone who buys a ticket gets in on a brunch to meet and greet Jane and to participate in a silent auction featuring Glee collectibles signed by the cast. If you can’t make it out, your donation gets you a personalized autographed photo of Jane.
For tickets and info, you can email the rowing team at palmettocrew@gmail.com. If you can’t attend and would like to make a donation, shoot us an email (tien@hernameisjanelynch.com) and we’ll get you in touch with the right people. Go Tigers!
