For the lesbian in your life, what better Valentine’s/birthday/Lunar New Year/housewarming/etc gift than a coffee table book about lesbians?  Here, then, is Erin McHugh’s The L Life: Extraordinary Lesbians Making a Difference, a coffee table-sized book about “extraordinary lesbians” like Jane Lynch, Kate Clinton, and Alison Bechdel.  Don’t know what you would do with a coffee table book about lesbians?  Really?  We have at least 7 ideas:

  • The most obvious: put the book on top of the coffee table you made with your own bare hands, with minimal help from the Home Depot
  • Place the book carefully-but-carelessly on top of your ottoman-turned-coffee table, for those of you who like to model your homes after a DWR catalog
  • Shelve the book in your living room bookshelf, between Rubyfruit Jungle and To Kill a Mockingbird, or in the entertainment stand with the first season of Glee
  • Out of room in the living room?  Try the kitchen bookshelf, between Cat Cora’s cookbook and Elizabeth Falkner’s Demolition Desserts
  • Keep it on the nightstand for a little bedtime perusing
  • Read it when you need a lighter counterpoint to Leslie Feinberg’s excellent but heavy Stone Butch Blues: A Novel
  • Gift wrap the book and give it to someone who needs to be shown that great lesbians do great things

See?  So many things.  Head on over to Amazon to pick up the book.  You can thank us later.
