Remember this interview [scroll down] where Jane Lynch talks about her ardent belief in the value of community service and giving back? Well, here you go:
One of our favorite events in LA is the Race for the Rescues, a 5k/10k run/walk at the Pasadena Rose Bowl that benefits a few local dog/cat rescues and animal welfare non-profits. Jane Lynch is co-hosting the event, as she does most years; this year, if you’re the top individual fundraiser, you’ll get to run/walk to a meet and greet with Jane. Time to show off how great your dog acts around celebrities (read: get your dog socialized, stat).
In addition, Gleefan is holding an online raffle to benefit the Race for the Rescues. Prizes include a bounty of Glee-related merch, including, of course, Sue Sylvester-related items. All details on their site here.
Jane also is a big supporter of the ACLU, which is awesome, because we did some legal work there when we were wee law students, and anyone who doesn’t at least respect the principles that the ACLU defends doesn’t like America and probably should attend one of the 10/30 rallies just to learn what America is all about. Yes, that was a very long run-on sentence. This is America, remember?
Charity Folks is hosting an online auction to benefit the ACLU; winners will receive a visit to the Glee set and a chance to meet La Lynch. Current bid is right around $4,000. Bidding ends in 5 days (October 19), so get your wallet, and your other wallet, ready. Full details here.
And if you can’t do any of the above, don’t fret: check out VolunteerMatch for other ideas on how to do something – because cleaning after your roommate doesn’t count as charity.
