Jane Lynch and the rest of the Glee cast have joined up with American Express’s almost disgustingly well-intentioned do-good Members Project campaign.  Basically, American Express and Glee would like you to get off your duff and do something proactive and, well, good.  Like recycle.  Or donate books.  Or stop updating your Facebook status with meaningless things like how no one should be without healthcare.  Because you know, that really doesn’t do anything.  The Members Project campaign asks whether you are Shue or Sue – i.e., more like do-gooder Will Schuester or not-gooder Sue Sylvester.  It reminds us of those Goofus and Gallant strips in Highlights for Children way back when; personally, we thought Goofus had all the fun.  Who doesn’t want to say, as Sue does below, “I stopped listening at ‘underserved’”?  We haven’t laughed this hard in a long time.

We like this next one because it finally pokes fun with the gravitas typical of most of these American Express Members Project commercials.

And finally, a clip of Jane Lynch talking about the campaign, as well as her own personal efforts to do good.

Speaking of role models, Jane Lynch is going to be on iCarly on September 11. The short clip below reveals Jane channeling the 1980s as she plays Carly’s mom.

And lastly, did you know that Jane also is a fashion role model?  Yeah, us neither, but many were totally wowed by her gorgeous purple gown at the Emmys.  The gown made such an impression, in fact, that PopSugar’s Retail Therapy – a Facebook game where you create an avatar and dress up that avatar – was inspired to virtually sell that dress to its users.  Like any good sale, it’s only available week; if you need a new addiction because Farmville is just not doing it for you anymore, now is the time to buy.  (For what it’s worth, The New Yorker had a fascinating article on these types virtual closets a few months ago – it’s long, but a good read.).
