Woah. A lot of Jane Lynch news lately. Let’s start with the most interesting, hrm?
First, Jane Lynch gave Obama a chance and came to the same conclusion we arrived at when we tried giving peace a chance: it doesn’t work. In an interview with The Guardian, Jane vocalizes the gay community’s general frustration with the non-stance that our President has taken on our home state’s heinous Prop. 8:
This past year saw a nationwide rejection of legalising gay marriage, stripping gay Americans of their hope for equal civil rights. “Shouldn’t there be safeguards against the majority voting on the rights of a minority?” Lynch wonders. “If people voted on civil rights in the 60s, it would have never happened. It took somebody like [President] Lyndon Johnson going, ‘F all of you! I’m going to do this.’” She pauses for a moment, then says, “Obama won’t do it. He’s a huge disappointment to me.”
YEAH OBAMA. She also offers up this flatly incorrect self-assessment:
Lynch herself barely thinks about being an openly gay actor in Hollywood. “I think if I were an ingénue – if I were Kate Winslet – it probably would hurt my career, but because I’m Jane Lynch and I’m a character actor, the world isn’t projecting their romantic fantasies on me.”
For the record, Jane Lynch, we totally project all sorts of romantic fantasies on you. You’re in our projector screen way more than Kate Winslet, who we haven’t quite forgiven for Titanic. Silly Jane.
Finally, the paper makes an odd introductory comment about Jane’s coming out period: “It wasn’t until later in life that she discovered she was gay, so she missed out on the taunting experienced by the gay character on Glee.” “Missed out on the taunting experience[]“?? Ok, let’s get this straight right now: being taunted for any reason is not something one “misses out on.” It’s not like you missed out on the prom because you caught the swine flu.
In other news, Jane Lynch confirms that her first song on Glee will be … Olivia Newton-John’s “Physical.” Heh heh. That one is not too bad of a choice. In the most anti-climatic news bit of 2010 so far, Fox picked up Glee for another season. That one is such non-news that it almost wasn’t worth the digital ink.
Finally, for those who missed it, Jane Lynch’s voiceover appearance on The Cleveland Show can be re-watched courtesy the power of Hulu here. And yes, you luckies, we just recapped it over at Jane Lynch Project.
And, in the most interesting news yet, Jane Lynch tells Television Without Pity that she will be wearing a dress to the Golden Globes. A dress! This is a Big Deal for some lesbians, ok? We’ll have screen caps of this for sure. This is what we do. We’ll project as we please.
WHAT TO DO NOW?
