Although actually being on Oprah is the pinnacle of “I made it! I’m famous!” for celebrities, maybe being on Oprah dot com is like a baby step in the direction towards the golden halo that is the big O. The site’s “Screening Room” series includes this interview with Jane Lynch in which we get a nice biographical overview of her and her career, from deciding on being a theater major in college to her cutting her teeth at Second City. We also learn which Glee character she identifies with the most. Can you guess?
“I identify very strongly, and this is going to be very telling, with Tina. Tina is played by Jenna Ushkowitz, and she’s the quiet, stuttering Asian girl. She’s quiet. She stands in the back, and when you hear her sing, you’re like, ‘Oh my gosh. Where did she come from? She has talent,’” Lynch says. “I was kind of that person. I was kind of in the background, and then, every once in awhile, I’d pop in and people would be like, ‘Where did you come from?’”
If you want a full-fledged spoiler for the article, here’s another one: the songs she wants to sing on Glee are ”Anything You Can Do, I Can Do Better” or Queen’s “We Are the Champions.” Personally, we’re still rooting for Madonna’s “This Used to Be My Playground.”
